:Pwith foreign talents oso can't win... ...how to go world cup.. While the SEA Games officially starts this coming weekend, the football tournament kicked off in Bacolod in the Philippines on Sunday with two games. In the first Group B encounter, Myanmar lost to Laos 2-3. It was also bad news for Singapore's Under-23 team which went down 1-2 to Vietnam. Singapore took the lead in the 24th minute, with Shahril Ishak flicking past the Vietnamese keeper. But the Vietnamese did not let up and equalised late in injury time during the first half. A free kick from Phan Van Quyen, from just outside the box, squared things off. The equaliser renewed the confidence of the Vietnamese who piled the pressure on Singapore. And four minutes into the second half, it was Phan's turn again, his header giving Vietnam their second goal. Their quick pace outwitted the Singapore defence and they could have easily increased the tally. But poor finishing denied Vietnam their third goal. The game ended 2-1 in Vietnam's favour. Singapore will next play Indonesia on 24 November. - CNA/ir
