i have mapping software of Bangkok, can zoom in till the narrowest soi u can find in BKK, distance measurement etc. I have no GPS too, good old paper map will do. My navigational tip is...when in doubt, ask! People are everywhere in most places I ride bike to. Add a touch of adventure & a sence of humour, you & me will ride very far...

Hey Chan, the turtle looks like those censored dicks in Hentai porn movies. On the left must be your hand holding the turtle but it looks as if you are strangling it.I will report you to SPCA!
Louis,Andrew once told me,when in doubt get a local to follow. There's many in every town that's willing to travel you know!Don't be surprised if you have seen more of Thailand than the Thai themselves....

I'm using that too. Even though got some new roads, still haven't got lost yet. Quite a good investment for frequent travellers to thailand.

chan shop have some map you can take a look. when in city or town, asking ppl and other above suggestions are the best. but if truely riding solo (and still solo after time zone change) i still feel a comprehensive map is required. why? because sometimes there is really no destination to 'ask' people how to go to.... for me i like mountain/highlands/cave area and so sometimes i just pick routes near to high elevation or forested areas.... end of day go back to same town.... this type of no destination ride, cannot commandeer a tuk tuk or motodop to follow. still need a good map/guidebook. as for GPS, its to enhance the ride not be solely dependant on it... i dun have one now but i want to get one next time

sori for the interuption..in the wrong posting..pls help me i have something to say in recent news a motorcyclist used his Crash Helmet to hit on a Poor Elderly man driven a van @block531a Multi sty carpark...the impact has casuses his Life & left the Poor wife behind.
Firstly, it has created a Bad & Poor image on All Bikers which i believe most S'porean dun like motorcycles at the first place. Secondly,it is inhuman & not proper for this Asshole to behave in such a manner even if uncle didn't give signal or almost causes u to fall from yr bike....just tell him/them to be more careful when driving esp a van due to blind spot because i do own a kangoo van..

Uncle, i believe this is a isolated case..though i do agree that most s'poreans dun like bikers. Sporeans are generally a law abiding lot,it was juz a case of bad timing for the 2 motorists.it was indeed severe for violence of this degree to occur over a reported seemingly harmless encounter.maybe the old uncle had a cardiac arrest b4 he was hit.then again,it was just maybe.. i had given up on local drivers long time ago..i'm sure they have a valid driver's license, but do they really know how to drive? a complacent attitude is typical of your average local driver, and as years of driving experiences go by,they pick up inconsiderate habits and foolishly display them on the roads as a display of seniority.you can tell alot bout a person from the way they drive/ride. i have reached a state of detachment from these category of human beings.once you encounter too many of them too often,it's easy to identify their DNA. i dun know how many people reading this is guilty of the above.i guess even me at times i wasnt a good road user,so for the record,i'm as good/bad as the person next to me on the road. my point is,people will be people.it's better to laugh at them than be pissed off.

lousie san, years of experiences & exposure does in fact change a person attitude, manners, characters, riding habits, temperatmental, etc...we just have to be composed & be cool at head at all times....be forgiving person. Have a nice & wonderful riding day everyday.

It's pretty comprehensive though more Thai words than English but still works fine for me. Best of all cost only 190 baht. ;D
