Reported flooding in Hatyai. Take note when riding up guys. Will monitor the situation and keep u guys updated.
BANGKOK : The death toll from floods across southern Thailand since November has climbed to 21 after two landslides killed seven people and thousands of people were evacuated, officials said on Sunday.
The evacuations occurred across Songkhla province, and more were expected as the waters continued to rise, officials at the province's Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre said.
More than 670,000 people from 180,000 households have been affected by the floods, the disaster centre said on Sunday evening, using a term the government uses to describe people stranded or who had suffered property damage.
At least 40,000 people had fallen ill across nine provinces, most of them with influenza, the Public Health Ministry said, adding it had sent 1,000 mobile medical units and 100,000 medicine kits to the affected provinces.
"We have confirmed that one person died in Songklha's Hat Yai district by drowning," Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Centre head Kananat Kachana told AFP on Sunday.
Separate landslides in two areas in Songkhla province killed two people on Friday and five on Saturday, while one person drowned in Yala province, also on Saturday, the disaster centre said in a statement.
Two people remain missing in Yala and Narathiwat provinces, the centre added.
Rains on Sunday across Hat Yai dumped more than 100 millimetres in three hours, causing widespread flooding, local administration head Prai Pattano said.
"We have faced two floods before (since late November), but the scale this time is beyond our control and we have got assistance from the provincial government," he told AFP.
"Hat Yai was officially declared as a flood affected area," Prai said, adding the declaration means state money and other assistance can be used for evacuations and compensation for relatives of those who died in the floods.
At least 2,500 people had been evacuated across Pattani, Narathiwat, Pattalung, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Trang and Yala provinces, officials said.
Songkhla governor Somporn Chaibangyang said residents in all 16 districts of his province were bracing for floods, especially those near Songkhla Lake where the water level had risen.
Two Swedish women also drowned on Friday after defying official warnings and swimming in the sea at Pha Ngan island, where the storms helped create an unusually strong current, police said. - AFP/de

WARNING!! Those who planning to trip up north may have to KIV. I just got back from HDY on the 18 Dec, whole town is in H2O, very bad condition, shops are closed. The route to Bt Kayu Hitam, near to Changlun (abt 20 Km b4 M'isa Border) was badly flooded, troops were called in and H'way was sealed off. Luckily I managed to detour and get back to SGP. As for the route to HDY from Thai border, many areas are flooded. Latest info is that the flood is even worse, those have friends there can call to check b4 embarking for the trip. After looking at the flood, We are lucky that mother nature is kind to us.

M'sia Changlun (small town) side was badly hit, abt 3 different areas kena flooded, abt chest level. Military troops had to call in to assist and h'way was totally shut! I had to detour to Kangsar/ Alor Star direction, making a big loop to get back to NSH. Along the way to Kangsar, also flood, but not as bad as Changlun. But I think Azly is a born Adventurer, so should not of any problem. Take care, have fun & god bless U all. Merry X'mas!! Keep Us update, pls.

Floods remain serious.. SUKHOTHAI, Thailand : Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra said Tuesday flooding across southern provinces remained "very serious" as forecasters predicted more rain in some areas. Prolonged floods across eight provinces have left 27 people dead and three missing since late November, while almost 700,000 people have sought government help, been evacuated or suffered property damage. "The southern flood situation is very serious now with the unprecedented rainfall so far, especially with Hat Yai city facing problems with drainage, and Pattani province worsened by a high tide," Thaksin told reporters. Speaking in between meetings of his cabinet, Thaksin said the refusal of residents to move from homes along waterways in Hat Yai was complicating efforts to widen the canals. "I have learned that during December 21 and 22 there will be more rain from a tropical storm, the last storm of this season," Thaksin said. Interior Minister Kongsak Vantana said the flood situation in Pattani province remained critical because of water flowing from neighbouring Yala province, which borders Malaysia, and a high tide. Kongsak said residents of almost 180,000 households in the region, representing about 670,000 people, had suffered property damage or needed help, although waters were receding in Narathiwat and Satun provinces. "The government has endorsed a budget for reconstruction of up to 800 million baht (19.5 million dollars)" or about 100 million baht per province, Kongsak said. Government spokesman Surapong Suebwonglee said the cabinet had held a video conference Tuesday morning with eight governors from the flood-hit provinces for an update. He said the Education Ministry estimated about 560,000 students from 2,200 schools across the region had been affected.

Advertising Widespread flooding has crippled agricultural centers and killed dozens as heavy rains continue across Southeast Asia. Nineteen people were killed in southern Thailand in the past week, raising to 35 the death toll in the region's worst floods in nearly 30 years, the Thai Interior Ministry said yesterday.
Relief agencies rushed food, clothes and blankets to nine provinces, including three bordering Malaysia, where more than 700,000 people have been affected, the ministry said.
In Malaysia, six people have died in Kelantan, the worst affected of four northern states hit by floods since Friday, the government said.
About 30,000 people were evacuated in the four states, but many have returned home as floodwaters receded in some areas.
Thai Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra was criticized for not touring the flooded deep south where his ruling Thai Rak Thai Party was trounced in general elections earlier this year.
"I follow the flood reports every two to three hours and have instructed relief officials to do their best. I will visit the provinces if necessary. But for now, I am sending out relief instructions by phone," he told reporters in Bangkok.
The flooding prompted former prime minister Chuan Leekpai, a member of the opposition Democrat Party, to delay a planned trip to Myanmar this week and fly to the embattled region.
The floods, brought by heavy seasonal tropical rains, have damaged 14 bridges, cut 463 roads and inundated 15,000 hectares of farmland, including vast stretches of rubber plantations, the Interior Ministry said.
Floods have also killed six more people in Vietnam's Central Highlands coffee belt, taking the death toll in the central region to 60 over the last 10 days, but officials said yesterday that the important coffee crop was not affected.
The six, two of them children, drowned as heavy rains triggered floods in the eastern and southeastern parts of Daklak Province, which are not key coffee growing areas, an official at Daklak's disaster management department said.
Irrigation projects suffered damage and more than 1,100 homes were inundated in the districts of Ea Kar, Krong Bong and Krong Ana.
A total of 54 people have died in floods that struck five central coastal provinces since early last week, 40 of them in the provinces of Khanh Hoa and Phu Yen near Daklak, the government's floods and storms committee said.
Meanwhile, the drowning death of a man in northern Malaysia brought that country's death toll in recent flooding to seven on Wednesday, while two people were missing and 30,000 put up in relief centers, reports said.
A 40-year-old fisherman in northeastern Kelantan state drowned when his boat overturned as he and two friends were rowing to their homes to salvage their belongings, the Star newspaper reported. Six other people have died in what has been described as the worst flooding in northern Malaysia in three decades.

Just that I happen to see a Singapore FZ plater wave parked in front of a gay pub as I was just passing by and I was wondering if it's you? If it's you do you happen to be in the pub? If that's you then I got no comments cos I happen to see an Singaporean man being molested by a gayboy.

Mr Tarzan,
How many times must we emphasize that it's the rider and not the bike. The only difference is it's slower and takes longer to munch up the mileage.Perseverence and patience is the key word to describe Thaiwaver. To make things happen, you must have the correct mindset.Everything else is secondary!
Anyway,3 cheers for you Thaiwaver!Good job!Bring a whole new meaning to touring.
