Hi guys, this thread is for all members to contribute. Please kindly share your interesting bike experiences..eg what made you get a motorcycle license, bikes u rode,or even the time when u first got your first balance on a 2 wheeler as a kid. it is purely nostalgic and nice to recall sweet memories. i will be posting mine shortly,as my employer has juz come back from a 4 hr lunch break(what the f$%K did he eat??!) hope to read from u(yes, the one staring at the monitor,YOU) soon. sorry for the delay. a thousand apologies. I dont have a glamorous bike story to tell. in fact, i wasnt allowed to talk bout motorcycles as a kid,let alone learning how to ride one. as an only child til my younger bro popped out by accident at my age of 7,i was pretty much censured from all things dangerous.i learnt how to ride a bicycle when i was 10 yrs old.(my parents were pretty distracted by my lil bro) whenever i talked about gettin a bike license,i ran the risk of being disowned. for the record, nobody in my entire three generations has ridden motorcycles. in my 1st yr in JC, i spent my 3rd semester at SSDC.nobody at home had a clue.on the eve of my 2B TP,i stayed over at a classmate's house coz i had to be early for the warmup.i got my bike license on 7th Aug 1997. it was one of the happiest days in my life.within a month, i bought myself a Vespa PX150 for $800.it was great sayin goodbye to SBS n MRT n taxis. i went everywhere with it.:)my next bike was also a Vespa, a 1976 Sprint V AQ1515. Subsequently,my dad found out.i thought i was goin to be homeless.to my surprise,he juz cooly said to me:" Boy ,ride safely."Chapter closed. years on,i had a Honda CD 175,Honda CD185,Kawasaki Estrella 250. i had this thing for old bikes and everything from a few decades back. i guess it's still safe to say a certain part of me still lives fondly in that era. riding old bikes wasnt all that fun.there were countless breakdowns n difficulty in sourcin parts. thus slowly but surely, i had to sell the bikes away cheaply to people with a bigger budget. it was heartbreaking in 2001,i bought a TW200 and had it mod the Japanese street style.zippin around in it was real fun.i sold it to a poly student at a concession rate.i was a student before. i bought the 1100GS in Sep2004. i honestly didnt know a thing what i was buying. i juz knew i had the dough at that point of time,i liked it,i got it. i went for Class 2 lessons. i started makin friends at SBF forums.i went for a long trip with a good friend in Dec 2004. he died 4mths later on Good Friday 2005 in a bike accident in M'sia. he was 25 and he passed on doin what loved. at the funeral,i didnt shed a single tear.in a nutshell, riding motorcycles has been a teacher of life to me.it has been a therapeutic experience to be out on the open roads, with the wind in your face and the worries behind you. God damn it, i'm a motorcycle rider. Nobody can ever take that away from me.
